Scholarships and Awards
For additional information on scholarships and awards available in the Department of History, contact Dr. Fred Colvin, 898-2631. All scholarships are awarded each spring semester. Deadline for applications or nominations is February 15.

  • Edward Jennings Scholarship (94007)
    Established by Mr. and Mrs. Edward L Jennings. Applicant must be an undergraduate history major. Scholarship recipients are eligible to reapply for a second year. Applicants for the scholarship must be enrolled for a minimum of twelve semester hours at the time of application. Applicants must have an overall GPA of 2.75 with a 3.0 GPA in a minimum of 15 hours of history courses.
  • Ernest Hooper History Scholarship (94107)
    Established by Dr. and Mrs. Ernest Hooper. Candidates are nominated by History Department faculty members. Faculty members may submit one name for the scholarship. Candidates must have completed at least 60 semester hours, a 3.0 GPA or higher and be a History or History distributive major. Must have completed a minimum of 12 semester hours in History.
  • James N. Leonard History Fund / Scholarship (94109)
    Established by the Leonard family. Funds used to foster better racial understanding.
  • Bart McCash Memorial Scholarship (94202)
    Established by Dr. June McCash.
