The Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program supports active research participation by undergraduate students in any of the areas of research funded by the National Science Foundation. REU projects involve students in meaningful ways in ongoing research programs or in research projects specifically designed for the REU program. There is also a Research Experience for Veteran Undergradutes (REVU) option.

 

The purpose of the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) is to help ensure the quality, vitality, and diversity of the scientific and engineering workforce of the United States. A goal of the program is to broaden participation of the full spectrum of diverse talents in STEM. The five-year fellowship provides three years of financial support inclusive of an annual stipend of $37,000.

 

The Summer Undergraduate Research Program is a signature program of the College of Graduate Studies. Undergraduate students, usually rising juniors and seniors from all over the country come to MUSC for a PAID 10-week, research-intensive experience. This includes the Summer Undergraduate Research Fund (SURF). 

 

The NIMHD Minority Health Research Training Program (MHRT) funds U.S. institutions to offer research training opportunities in domestic and international settings to undergraduate, post-baccalaureate, and graduate students, as well as residents, fellows, and postdoctoral students from health disparity backgrounds. This is also known as Minority Health Disparities International Research Training (MHIRT).

Through the Summer Research Opportunities Program (SROP), undergraduate students can enhance their academic and research skills by working one-on-one with a faculty mentor from top-ranked research institutions.
