The Middle Tennessee State University,
Interior Design Program is accredited by the Southern Association
of Colleges (SACS), the Tennessee Higher Education Commission,
the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA), and the
National Association of Schools of Art & Design (NASAD).
We offer a four year Bachelor of Science Degree in Interior
Design consisting of 41 credit hours in liberal arts courses
identified as General Education courses, 19 credit hours in
Professional Support Courses and 60 credit hours in the Interior
Design Professional Courses Sequence. All students must apply to
be accepted into the IDES Professional Courses Sequence. Once
accepted it will take three years to complete the Interior Design
courses. Entrance requirements include the completion of 30
credit hours of General Studies and Professional Support courses
with a grade of "C" or better and a cumulative GPA of 2.50 or
higher. Once in the program, a grade of "C" of better is required
in all IDES courses and a maintained GPA of 2.50 of higher to
continue in the IDES sequence.
New Freshman should attend the Summer
orientation program CUSTOMS. During CUSTOMS sessions students
will have the opportunity to meet with advisors, determine
course requirements, select & register for classes, learn
your way around campus and obtain information about services
and programs. New Transfer students must complete online
orientation through the
www.mtsu.edu/cebsorn
website. Transfer students will meet with a faculty advisor and
register for classes the day they are on campus.
