Robyn Ridgley, Ed.D. Assistant Professor
Program Area: Early Childhood Education Rank: Assistant Professor Year Appointed: 2005 Academic Degrees And Location: Ed.D. in Special Education, University of Kentucky M.Ed. in Early Childhood Special Education, Vanderbilt University B.S. in Learning and Behavior Disorders and Elementary Education, Murray State University Credentials Pertinent To The Field Philosophy Statement: I believe in order to achieve great things, one must set high goals for him/herself and work diligently to achieve those goals. I attempt to reflect this belief in my work with students, my research, and the support I provide to the early childhood community. I believe students should have opportunities to establish goals and determine ways to achieve those goals. I believe students should be provided with opportunities to think critically and reflectively about the content and experiences they are provided. In addition, they should be supported as they strive to achieve their own expectations and those established by an instructor or profession. I believe one of the primary responsibilities I have as a professor is to help the early childhood field continue to expand the knowledge base related to working with young children and their families. I believe in order to do this, partnerships between colleagues, families, and programs must be established. Furthermore, I believe it is imperative that the community surrounding young children and their families work together to enhance services and supports to positively encourage the development of children and relationships between children, families, and professionals.
