Program Events
"Bras for a Cause" Annual Event
The Textiles, Merchandising & Design students have been helping to promote Breast
Cancer Awareness with local business Penny's Closet, owned by Penny Bolton. The Introduction
to Fashion classes are given the charge to combine the fashion industry with social
learning responsibility. TXMD students have participated in "Bras for a Cause" the
past three years designing unique garments to reflect and highlight the importance
of cancer awareness.

Peace Felt 2010
Textile, Merchandising & Design students participated in Peace Felt 2010 with the
guidance of Ms. Nancy Oxford. Each student felted individual pieces that were combined
together to form a wall hanging symbolizing peace in other countries. Each student
chose a country to research symbols that represented peace for that country. Russia,
China, the Netherlands, Japan, Ireland and Scotland were only a few of the countries
presented

Arts for Education
"Arts for Education" is sponsored by Business Education Partnership to support and promote training programs
for Murfreesboro City and Rutherford County students entering the business world.
Funding is received from local businesses in the area.
