Freshman Summer Institute The Scholars Academy Freshman Summer Institute is a five-week residential program designed to serve as a bridge to help students transition from high school to college. Students are accepted to the Scholars Academy Freshman Summer Institute based on a combination of several factors including high school GPA, ACT/SAT test scores, a completed application, references, a personal interview, and an evaluation of other data such as high school involvement and community service. Students participating in the program are housed on the MTSU campus for the duration of the Summer Institute, attend two freshman-level courses, and take part in team-building exercises, leadership training, the summer reading program, and service learning projects.
