Abstract:
Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 is an inexpensive and user friendly software that lets the user create unique images, icons, backgrounds, and edit photos in many fun and imaginative ways. This is a hand-on workshop for beginners who have an interest in graphics but haven't jumped in yet.

Description:
This easy to follow workshop will begin by familiarizing participants with each tool available in Adobe Photoshop Elements (Version 6) software program and using these tools to perform a specific tasks. Once the class is comfortable with the tools, we will move on to creating icons from clipart and customized backgrounds for online courses. We will then explore photo editing. Participants will discover how to download photos from digital cameras and scanners as well as pull them from the web and alter them. They will learn how to crop photos to make them more pleasing and change size and resolution for different uses. We will combine elements of several photos into one image. They will learn how to use layers and transparencies. Then they will correct blemishes on old photos using the cloning tool and the spot-fix tool. They will edit out unwanted background features. They will apply filters to make different artistic looks to the same picture. They will learn how to add text and use blending options to alter it. By the conclusion of the 2 hour workshop, participants should be very comfortable working with Photoshop Elements. Handouts will be given.
