Abstract: The term “Web 2.0” is certainly a popular buzzword. Other than hype, what do Web 2.0 tools really have to offer? Is it possible for instructors to effectively use these tools to engage learners? The presenters will share specific tools and strategies they’ve found successful to help you begin implementing Web 2.0 technologies in your courses.
Description: This session will specifically focus on expanding the walls of your classroom to allow students the opportunity to collaborate with and learn from experts and fellow learners around the world. Free collaborative tools such as Skype, Twitter, ooVoo, Ustream, and wikis help make this possible. Benefits of using these tools include:
•Encouraging student participation
•Engaging students
•Tools are always available in any location with internet access
Participants will get a brief demonstration on how these tools work and learn how their effective integration into a Graduate course sparked the emergence of an active and ongoing online professional learning community comprised of individuals around the world.
