Title: Introduction to Smart Draw, a presentation-quality graphic creation tool

Name: Brenda Kerr

Audience: General

Audience Level: All

Length: 1 hour

Abstract: Smart Draw saves faculty and student time by allowing the user to easily create drawings, charts, floor plans, mind maps, timelines, diagrams, geographical maps, flow charts, and other visualization tools , through the use of Smart Templates and other quick drawing techniques. Images are important in helping today's students, who are mostly visual learners, visualize and demonstrate concepts. Creating these visualizations can be very time consuming. Smart Draw was created to save time but also to allow the user to create quality visualizations.

Workshop participants will learn about the different Smart Templates available in Smart Draw. They will learn how to work with template objects and will learn how to use Smart Draw tools to enhance their projects using standard and freeform shapes and lines, symbols, and text. Participants will learn how to publish projects to the web and to PDF format and will also export images to MS Word, PowerPoint, and other programs.
