- Lift the flat bed scanner (ScanJet 4C) cover and place the object (photo, drawing, 3D object) face down on the glass. To insure a straight scan, line up one edge of your object with one of the scanner's edges.
- On the window Taskbar, click Start, point to Programs, select Adobe and then click
Photoshop 6.0. Photoshop6.0 opens in page view.
- Choose File, Import, and then click DeskScan II.

- The scanning software will automatically start. Don't take the object off the scanner until after the final scan.

- Use the Selection tool to draw a box around the area of the image you would like to scan in the final scan.
The selection tool should automatically appear when you single click in the image side of the dialogue box.
- Change the Type and Print Path options to suit your needs. Type should be set to Sharp Black and White Drawing, Sharp Black and White Photo, or Sharp Millions of Colors depending on the type of object you are scanning. Print Path is typically set to Screen.

- Click on the Brightness/Contrast button to automatically adjust the brightness and contrast of the image.
- Use the slider bars to Scale the image if needed.
- Click on the Final button to start the final scan.
- Choose File and click Save to save the image in a file.
- You will have to close the DeskScan II software to access your scanned image in Photoshop.
