Administrative Information Systems Services Staff

Lisa Rogers - Assistant Vice President

Lisa Rogers has been with MTSU since September, 1985. She is the director of the Administrative Information Systems Services department within the Information Technology Division (ITD). During her employment with MTSU, she has served as a programmer and senior systems analyst in Administrative Information Systems Services. Prior to that, she was a programmer in ITD's Academic & Instructional Technology Services department. Lisa graduated from North Carolina State University in 1985 with a B.S. in Computer Science. While a full-time employee, she earned an M.S. in Computer Science from MTSU in 1993. Lisa is also the Project Manager for MTSU’s ERP Project.

John Patterson - Director

John Patterson has been with MTSU since June 1, 2000.  Prior to MTSU, he was a Systems Analyst at the Tennessee Board of Regents as part of its SunGard Satellite Maintenance Office since January 2, 1985. He supported SCT's Student Information System primarily in the areas of Shared, Admissions, Records, repeat processing and transfer equivalency. John graduated from MTSU in 1972 with a B.S. in Sociology and minors in Economics and Data Processing.

Jo Ann Batson - Systems Analyst

Jo Ann Batson has been with MTSU since January 2001. Before coming to MTSU, Jo Ann was an Information Systems Analyst with the State of Tennessee’s Department of Commerce and Insurance in Nashville. Since 1982, Jo Ann worked for various departments within state government as a Statistical Analyst doing SAS programming. She graduated from Middle Tennessee State University in 1981 with a B.B.A. in Office Management, Business Administration.

Jo Ann’s main responsibilities include programming/report writing with the use of MS Access using data from student, human resources, and finance systems.  This includes creating ad hoc reports for the academic staff, assisting both administrative and academic staff with questions, and conducting workshops.  She also is the primary support for the Post Office system.

Sylvia T. Bergant – Senior Systems Analyst

Sylvia Bergant has been with MTSU since April 2004. Before coming to MTSU, Sylvia was a Systems Engineer for Adminastar Federal in Louisville, KY supporting Medicare processing for four years.  She also worked for Okaloosa-Walton Community College in Northwest Florida for eight years supporting Management Information Systems. Sylvia graduated from The University of West Florida in 1986 with a B.S. in Systems Science/Business and received an A.A. in 1984 in Business Data Processing from Okaloosa-Walton Community College.  

Sylvia is responsible for the support of Campus Loan Manager, fsaAtlas, PipelineMT technical support, and also provides program support for other administrative applications.

Charlotte Caruthers – Systems Analyst

Charlotte has been with MTSU since October 2002.  She started her career with MTSU as Account Clerk in the Communication Support area of ITD and later moved into her current position as Systems Analyst in 2003. .  She attended Nashville State Technical Community College before transferring to MTSU and then received her B.B.A. in Computer Information Systems in May 2002.  Before returning to school Charlotte had worked with the Tennessee Department of Health and Environment (Nashville) as an Office Supervisor and for HLM&A special events company (Nashville) as an Office Manager/Account Executive.

Charlotte’s main focus in her current position includes various duties associated with programming/report writing—currently with the use of MS Access using data from student, human resource, and finance systems.  Duties include creating ad hoc reports for the academic staff, assisting both administrative and academic staff with questions, and conducting workshops.  Other duties include support for the Teacher Licensure’s Annual Title IV Enrollees and Completers Reports.

Eve Jones - Senior System Analyst

Eve Jones has been with MTSU since December 1992. Before coming to MTSU, Eve was a Programmer/Analyst for Columbia State Community College for 5 years. Prior to that, she worked at the Naval Air Station in Memphis through the co-operative program at Mississippi State University (MSU). Eve graduated from MSU in 1987 with a B.B.A. in Business Information Systems.

Eve is responsible for technical support dealing mainly with business applications written in Pro*C and PL/SQL, such as Banner Accounts Receivables, Banner Finance, CORE interface support, and Subsidiary Accounting System.

Phyllis Kitzler - Senior System Analyst

Phyllis Kitzler has been with MTSU since August 1989. Before her current position,  she was an Academic Computer Programmer and Administrative Programmer in ITD. Prior to her career at MTSU, she worked for OAO Corporation at Arnold Engineering Development Center (AEDC) in Tullahoma for two years as a Programmer Analyst in the engineering applications department. Prior to working at AEDC, Phyllis worked at Lincoln Cross in Nashville as a Benefits Analyst/Programmer. Phyllis graduated cum laude from Middle Tennessee State University in 1986 with a B.S. in Computer Science, with minors in Mathematics and Business Administration.  Her primary areas of support are Banner Human Resources and Workflow, as well as any other Pro*C and PL/SQL,programming and technical assistance as needed.

Lakshmi Krishnan – Systems Analyst

Lakshmi Krishnan has been with MTSU since March 2006. She started at MTSU as a systems analyst in AISS prior to her current position.  But, prior to MTSU, Lakshmi worked as a Programmer with the Tennessee Department of Treasury in Nashville, at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, and with Cognizant Technology Solutions in India. Lakshmi holds a Master’s degree in Computer Information Systems from Eastern Michigan University and a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from India. She has Oracle certification in SQL and PL/SQL and Sun Certification in Java.

Lakshmi works for AISS in support of the Advancement Services office developing Pro*C/Oracle/SQL/Access based programs for Banner Advancement.

Glenda Oshop - Senior System Analyst

Glenda Oshop has been with MTSU since May 2005.  Before coming to MTSU, Glenda was a Programmer/Analyst for the State of Tennessee Treasury Department for over 9 years.  She also graduated cum laude from Middle Tennessee State University in 1994 with a B.B.A. in Computer Information Systems.  Glenda’s primary areas of support are Pro*C, PL/SQL, SQL, other programming and technical assistance as needed, WebTailor component of Banner Self-service, Luminis, D2L interface, and Bannerdoc web site maintenance.


Mark Powers- System Analyst

Mark Powers has been with MTSU since April 2007.  Before coming to MTSU, Mark worked as a programmer at Amoco for 10 years. He graduated from Mississippi State University in 1990 with a Master’s degree in Computer Science.  Mark’s primary areas of support are MS Access reporting and the CUSTOMS application.

Mary Smith - Senior System Analyst

Mary Smith has been with MTSU since March 1995. Mary graduated cum laude from Middle Tennessee State University in 1987 with a B.B.A. in Computer Information Systems.  Mary’s primary areas of support are Banner Financial Aid, WebTailor component of Banner Self-service, Pro*C, PL/SQL, other programming and technical assistance as needed, and TouchNet Payment Gateway/Bill Payment Suite support.

Theresa Stevenson - Senior System Analyst

Theresa Stevenson has been with MTSU since 1983.. Theresa graduated from MTSU in 1982 with a B.B.A. in Computer Information Systems.  Theresa’s primary areas of support are Resource25/Schedule25/X25, Banner Advancement, Banner Student, and Pro*C, PL/SQL, and other programming and technical assistance as needed.


Debbie Warren - Senior System Analyst

Debbie Warren has been with MTSU since August 1991.  She graduated cum laude from Middle Tennessee State University in 1988 with a B.B.A. in Computer Information Systems and earned an A.S. degree in Computer Science from Columbia State Community College, Columbia, Tennessee. Debbie’s primary areas of support are Banner Student and Pro*C, PL/SQL, and other programming and technical assistance as needed.
