Adult Learning Conference: Information

We're excited to have Nan L. Travers, Ph.D. join us as our keynote speaker at this year's conference. Nan currently serves as the Director of the Office of Collegewide Academic Review at Empire State College and focuses on the policies and practices of self-designed student degree programs, advanced standing the assessment of prior college-level learning and ePortfolios.

Over the years, Dr. Travers has been involved in extensive research in adult learning, including PLA practices and ways in which students develop self-regulated learning. She currently serves on the board for LearningCounts.org, the Council of Adult and Experiential Learning's online PLA center, and the Prior Learning International Research Centre (PLIRC).

Dr. Travers is also the founding co-editor of PLA Inside Out: An International Journal on the Theory, Research, and Practice in Prior Learning Assessment. Prior to Empire State College, Dr. Travers has held a variety of administrative positions at community colleges in Vermont and New Hampshire. She received her Ph.D. at the University of Connecticut in Adult Learning.

We encourage you to bring as many students as possible to this conference to help them learn how to become more successful students. A discounted conference fee for students is available, and the hotel will allow up to four students to share a room.
