Free Legal Clinic
September 24, October 29, November 19 | 6:30-8:00 p.m. | JUB Room 206 With support of the Rutherford-Cannon County Bar Association, the JAWC holds free, monthly, legal clinics for ALL MTSU members on the last Thursday of each month, 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. at our office. Space is limited and by appointment only.
Career/Professional Development Brown Bag Series The JAWC features a monthly brown bag series that will cover various issues related to individuals’ Careers and Professional Development. These programs will be available to ANYONE on campus –staff, administration, faculty, and students. Bring a lunch and join us! All programs will be held from 12:00–1:00 p.m. in the James Union Building, Dining Room C.

Domestic Violence Awareness Month October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Purple ribbons will be available in several locations across campus including JAWC, Center for Student Involvement and Leadership, KUC Information Desk and Off-Campus Student Services.

Silent Witness Project This exhibit features blood red T-shirts displayed with true stories of women, men and children that have been victims of domestic violence. The stories are printed across the bust of the T-shirts. The powerful exhibit promotes peace, healing, education and awareness.

L.Y. Marlow, Keynote Speaker for Domestic Violence Awareness Month Ms. Marlow is the author of Color Me Butterfly, a true story of courage, hope, and transformation. The reception and book signing immediately follow the presentation.
 A weekly meeting of Gender Circles
Gender Circles September 9 – December 9 | 1:00–3:00 p.m. | JUB Room 206 Weekly conversations about diversity issues with a special emphasis on gender related topics. Programs and activities will include discussions, speakers, movies, presentations, documentaries, games, book reviews and discussions, crafts, poetry, music, art and writing. Gender Circle meets every Wednesday except for MTSU holidays and breaks.
Our Friends: Our Selves Bookclub A new bookclub sponsored by the JAWC that looks at women’s roles in society both past and present. The book club is open to all for discussion and suggestions for upcoming books to discuss. The book club meets monthly, the last Monday of each month.
