BS Professional Studies in Information Technology

This degree seeks to prepare students for a career in technology-based information management. A minimum of 120 hours is needed.

These requirements are IN ADDITION to the General Education Requirements.

Bachelor of Science Requirements
  • Complete a minimum of 120 semester hours.
  • A minimum of 30 hours must be taken through MTSU.
  • At least 45 upper-division hours (3000/4000 level) are required. A minimum of 30 upper-division hours must be completed through MTSU.
  • Complete a minimum of 12 of the last 18 semester hours through MTSU.
  • No more than 60 semester hours completed or awarded by credit-by-examination, credit for service-related experience and flight training may be counted for credit on a degree.
  • A minimum of 60 semester hours must be completed at a 4-year institution.
  • No more than 25% of the credits may be in courses commonly found in a school of business; therefore, a student can have only one business minor.
  • During the second semester of the sophomore year, students must complete an upper-division form and file it in the Records Office. Contact your advisor for more information.
Degree-Specific Requirements
  • Courses used to satisfy the General Studies requirements in the bachelor's degree cannot be used to fulfill the 42 hours used specifically for the B.S. in Professional Studies degree.
  • Maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA in the major.
  • This degree is not awarded through the College of Business and is therefore not accredited by AACSB International.
  • This degree is not awarded through the College of Basic and Applied Sciences.
