Students interested in receiving Dual Credit will be asked to complete a Special Exam Form for Dual Credit from the MTSU Admissions Office. The student will mail the form and the testing fee to the MTSU Business Office; 1301 East Main St., CAB 103; Murfreesboro, TN 37132.
- The testing fee of $20 per credit hour which is payable prior to sitting for the exam (this fee is non-refundable even if the student does not pass the competency test). If the student misses the test date due to illness or an emergency, the test must be made-up within 2 weeks of the original test date. (*If a student is unsuccessful on the competency test, they are not allowed to retake the test.)
- The form and testing fee should be received in the Business Office no later than 14 days prior to the competency test date
After the Business Office receives the Special Exam Form for Dual Credit and deposits the fee, it will be stamped and forwarded to the Admissions Office at MTSU.
The MTSU department/faculty member will notify the student if they have successfully passed the dual credit exam. This notification should include:
- Information regarding whether or not the student successfully completed the competency exam
- If the student successfully completed the competency exam, also include information regarding how/when their credit will be posted at MTSU

the credit will be posted as a P grade on the MTSU transcript (which a student can access once they apply and are admitted to MTSU)
- once the student completes a course at MTSU (online or residency), the student could request the transcript be sent to another institution
- if a student doesn’t see the credit once admitted, they should contact the Admissions Office who will verify the master list has indicated the student passed the test and that payment was received
