Faculty Peer Assistant (FPA) Program Definition The Faculty Peer Assistant (FPA) Program, established in the Fall Semester 2005, was created to promote distance course excellence and quality. A FPA is assigned to mentor each course designer and to conduct peer reviews on all distance courses. Department chairs are responsible for the final review and approval of each course. Eligibility Veteran online/hybrid course designers/instructors who have earned the LERN Certified Online Instructor (COI) designation are afforded the opportunity to serve as Faculty Peer Assistants (FPAs). It is felt that the achievement of the COI designation uniquely qualifies them to serve in this capacity. Program Sponsorship MTSU faculty interested in earning the Certified Online Instructor (COI) designation in order to serve as Faculty Peer Assistants may contact the Distance Learning Faculty Services Office (cladams@mtsu.edu or 615/904-8276) for information. In support of the FPA program, the Distance Learning Faculty Services Office: - Funds COI certification and re-certification programs, when appropriate and/or necessary, and if continuation in the program is desired;
- Funds attendance at faculty development workshops/seminars/conferences so that FPAs remain abreast of current e-learning teaching and learning trends;
- Provides a review fee of $125 per course paid annually (budget permitting):
