In recent years society has placed increasing value on programs and services which improve peoples' quality of life. Individuals employed in the provision of Leisure, Sport and Tourism Services are among the primary contributors to this effort. At MTSU students majoring in Leisure, sport and Tourism Studies prepare for careers working with diverse populations in a wide range of settings. Among the most popular career choices are opportunities in Recreation Administration, Outdoor Recreation, Youth Sport, Sport Management, Event Planning, and Travel and Tourism.  The Leisure, Sport, and Tourism Studies program at MTSU offers a Bachelor of Science degree with specialization tracks in Recreation Administration, Outdoor Recreation, Sport Studies, and Tourism Studies. We also offer a Master's of Science Degree in Leisure and Sport Management and a Ph.D. in Human Performance with a specialization in Leisure Studies.

The Leisure, Sport, and Tourism Studies major in the department of Health & Human Performance supports the University's mission of providing quality instruction, placing value on applied research, and developing partnerships with organizations that are responsive to the needs of our students and the greater community. The goal of our major is to prepare students to enter professional settings that facilitate an optimal quality of life for diverse citizens through the provision of leisure, sport, and tourism services.
