Jade Treadwell, originally from Jacksonville, Florida, attended Douglas Anderson School of the Arts. During this time, she had the opportunity to work with guest artists such as Arturo Fernandez, Ronen Koresh, and Eddy Toussaint. She received her BFA and MFA degrees in Dance Performance and Choreography from Florida State University. As a student, she was a member of Dance Repertory Theatre under the direction of Lynda Davis. She was inspired as a performer and choreographer by working with artists such as Dan Wagoner, Tim Glenn, Gerri Houlihan, Susan Marshall, Alex Ketley, and Jawole Zollar of Urban Bush Women. She concluded her undergraduate studies in New York City with an internship directed by Sally Sommer and Robert Dorf of Susan Marshal & Company. This experience fueled her passion for dance administration in which she was able to utilize as the Assistant Program Director of FSU Summer Dance Intensives under the leadership of Joyce Fausone. As a graduate student, she was awarded a Teaching Assistantship, allowing her to teach Tap, Jazz, Ballet, and Modern courses in the FSU School of Dance General Studies program. Jade choreographed the 50 minute, danced production of A Soldier’s Tale, in collaboration with the FSU Schools of Theatre and Music directed by Stephen Higgonbotham.

Professionally, Jade is a former company member of Staib Dance in Atlanta, GA and ClancyWorks Dance Company of the DMV area. As a member of ClancyWorks, she was a Teaching Ambassador for the DEA Youth Dance Program in the Baltimore K-12 schools. She has taught on the dance faculty at Howard Community College in Columbia, MD and the Ballet Arts Conservatory of Tallahassee in Tallahassee, FL. In 2013, she aligned her passion and curiosity for movement in a health and fitness capacity when she became a certified Pure Barre Teacher. She has continued to research injury prevention and rehabilitation methodologies for dancers. As a member of the American College of Sports Medicine, she employs foundations of anatomy, kinesiology, and conditioning principles into her creative approach as an educator. She also holds a Master of Exercise Science degree from MTSU.

She has traveled with MTSU’s History in Senegal abroad program in which she engaged in movement research and was enriched by the country’s preservation of history, culture and spirituality. Her choreography, Of Sand & Salt, is the product of the creative process culminating these explorations from her travels throughout West Africa. At MTSU, Jade teaches Dance Kinesiology, Ballet, Modern, Advanced Contemporary, Tap, Dance Performance, Choreography, First Year Seminar in Dance, and Introduction to Dance.
