College Advising Program
Students may be assigned to a faculty member based on their particular emphasis. Faculty members serve as an advisor to the student. Students may also request to be assigned to a particular advisor. The student should contact their faculty advisor at least once a semester. The faculty advisors help with preparing class schedules, filing upper-division forms, answering questions about the university and much more.
In addition to the faculty advisors, the College of Mass Communication employs two full-time college advisors. Hattie Traylor serves as the advisor for all pre-candidacy School of Journalism students and advisor for the Department of Electronic Media Communication. Sarah Jackson serves as the College advisor for all pre-candidacy Recording Industry students. Mrs. Traylor & Ms. Jackson are available to answer questions from any faculty member or student, but they specialize in helping freshmen, transfer students, and students experiencing academic difficulty. They also play a pivotal role in customs and registration.
