 Welcome to the College of Mass Communication! Over the last decade, the College of Mass Communication at MTSU has become one of the signature colleges at the university and one of the most prestigious mass communication colleges in the country. We are nationally and internationally known for our commitment to the freedom of expression and academic excellence. Graduates of each of our three academic units - the Department of Recording Industry, the Department of Electronic Media Communication and the School of Journalism - hold prominent positions in government, industry and education, including major leadership roles. All of us - alumni, students, staff, faculty and administrators - have much of which to be proud. The college is in the process of developing a substantially revised five-year plan (the current plan was approved in 2005) that we believe will eventually propel us to even stronger national and international prominence. The plan includes a new mission statement and new goals that are ambitious, realistic, creative, practical, forward-looking and flexible. Once the plan is finalized, it will be disseminated widely and will drive future changes in the college. As always, we welcome your input and hope that you will join us in our success! Dr. Roy L.
