Raider Learning Communities

The Raider Learning Community Program (RLC) offers students an opportunity to experience classes at MTSU in a whole new way. The RLC program helps to create a small college atmosphere within the large university environment. RLC students belong to small groups of at most 25, and enroll as a group together in courses available to that community. RLC participants, find the program gives them a built-in group of friends and academic colleagues, providing a real enhancement to studies and the entire college experience.

Two types of RLC experiences are available to students, residential and non-residential. The Department of Housing and Residential Life coordinates the residential RLC options. These include the Aerospace, Give Me a Beat, and Women in Science Communities. Students opting to participate in these communities live together on campus and attend particular classes together. Contact Housing and Residential Life for more details. The Academic Support Center coordinates the non-residential learning communities. Special sections of ENGL1010, COMM2200, UNIV1010, DSPM0850, HIST2010, ECON2410, GEOL1030 (choosing your own lab (GEOL1031)), and GEOG2000 have been paired together to offer all students the opportunity to experience the learning community concept. The course offerings are listed each semester in the Schedule Book.
