Module 1: College Advising
Psychology
The Psychology major is designed for students with a variety of career goals and interests and leads to a Bachelor of Science degree. The Pre-Graduate School concentration is designed for students intending to apply for Ph.D. or master's programs. A minor in Psychology is also available. In addition, the Department of Psychology offers a major and minor in Industrial/Organizational Psychology. The Industrial/Organizational Psychology major leads to a Bachelor of Science degree. Additional specialized minors are offered in Mental Health Services, Life Span Development and Behavioral Research. A student with more than one major and/or minor in the Department of Psychology cannot use the same coursework for more than one program. Some courses may be used in more than one program, but in no case can a single course be used to satisfy requirements in more than one program. Students choosing to major in any of the three programs in the Department of Psychology are required to earn a grade of C or higher in all Psychology courses attempted. In general education, a grade of A, B or B- is required for BOTH English Composition courses (ENGL 1010 and ENGL 1020). Students not earning an A, B or B- are required to take an additional English course, Applied Writing (ENGL 3500) or Professional Writing (ENGL 3520). College Algebra (MATH 1710) or Algebra and Trigonometry (MATH 1730) is also required. Students having completed a higher level of mathematics, such as Calculus, may substitute that course for the general education math requirement.
