Political Science Clyde Willis, Interim Chair, Peck Hall 209, 898-2708 The Department of Political Science offers both the Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees. International Relations and Political Science Teacher Licensure majors earn a Bachelor of Science degree. Political Science prepares students for careers in government, business, and public service. The Political Science degree includes courses in American Government, Comparative Government, International Relations, Public Law, Public Administration and Political Theory and Research Methods. Public Administration is designed for students seeking employment in administrative careers in government or public service agencies. Recommended minors include: Accounting, Business Administration, Criminal Justice Administration, Economics, Finance, English, Information Systems, Psychology, and Sociology. Pre-Law is designed for students who plan to attend law school. A combination of core political science courses and courses in related disciplines has been found to provide a sound background for law school. All Pre-Law students must complete a Pre-Law cognate. International Relations prepares students for careers in foreign service areas in the public or private sector. Students need to have an understanding of economic, geographical, historical and cultural factors in International Relations. Political Science Teacher Licensure is designed for students who want to teach government in high school. A minor in History, Economics, or Geography is recommended. Students must be admitted to the Teacher Licensure program with a 2.5 GPA or higher. Paralegal Studies courses are also offered through the Political Science Department.
