| Module 1: College Advising Academic Policies and Procedures Grades I = Incomplete Student is given an ‘I’ if they do not meet all of the course requirements within the confines of that semester. Assigning the grade of an ‘I’ is at the discretion of the instructor. A student will have one semester to complete the course requirements (not including summer) until the grade officially becomes an ‘F’ and will count in the student's GPA. N = No Credit / Non-Punitive The grade of ‘N’ does not affect a student’s GPA but does count as the first attempt of that particular course. NC = No Credit (Audit) If a student enrolls in a course or decides after attending to change to audit they will not receive credit for that particular course. If a student accidentally registered to audit a course but was intending to take the course for credit their schedule can be adjusted in The Scheduling Center (JUB 123). W = Withdrawn A student may drop a course within a specified time frame each semester and receive a ‘W’ for a course instead of a grade. Check the semester schedule book or www.mtsu.edu/~records/scalendars.shtml to see a current academic schedule for drop/add. A ‘W’ does not calculate into a student's GPA but does count as attempted hours. This may affect some students who have been awarded the Lottery Scholarship or other types of financial aid. After the deadline to drop a course with a ‘W’ it is up to the discretion of the instructor whether the student may drop their class with a “W’ or an ‘F’. |
