Module 2: Advising
Assessment of ACT/SAT or COMPASS Scores Students who are admitted to the University may be required to enroll in prescribed courses based on ACT/SAT or COMPASS sub-scores. Valid ACT/SAT scores must be less than three years old. Students with ACT sub-scores that are 18 or lower in the areas of reading, English, or math are automatically placed in certain courses. A student may challenge their ACT/SAT placement by taking the COMPASS test. All entering, degree-seeking students admitted to MTSU will be assessed using their ACT, SAT or COMPASS scores to determine course placement needs. *DSPW 0700- Basic Writing *DSPM 0700- Basic Math *DSPR 0700- Basic Reading ** UNIV 1010K- University Seminar-Academic Skills are highly emphasized *Note: All DSP 0700 Courses are taught by Motlow Community College on MTSU Campus **Note: Students placed into 2 or more subject areas are required to take UNIV 1010 (K sections) Students 21 years or older are required to take the COMPASS test in order to determine correct placement in prescribed courses or may elect to provide ACT/SAT scores that have been taken within three years prior to the first day of enrollment. In addition, transfer students who have not earned college-level algebra based math or English credits must take the COMPASS test in appropriate areas.
