Module 3: Transfer Advising
The Transfer Student's Right to Know

< previous

Students who transfer from other institutions often present the advisor with complex circumstances. To provide the student with the best assistance, the advisor must be aware of the student’s rights and responsibilities in the transition.

Students applying to college have the right to certain information about colleges and universities, and about how much it costs to go to college. The U.S. government requires that colleges and universities provide prospective students with information about costs, requirements, procedures, accreditation, disabled student services, academic program, financial aid, and campus security (adapted from NACAC Transfer Student Rights and Responsibilities, 2003).
