Module 3: Transfer Advising
Developing the Transfer Student Schedule

Inform the transfer student about UNIV 2020.
University 2020 Successful Transitions is a one hour general elective course designed to assist the new transfer student in transition to the MTSU campus environment.

Agree to courses appropriate for the student's first semester at MTSU.
Give the student registration instructions. Suggest alternatives in the event that courses are closed. Show them how to access the online course catalog. Check ACT/COMPASS prescribed courses, High School Deficiencies, and Holds.

Check for high school deficiencies.
Should you have a question regarding high school deficiencies please contact 898-2111 and ask to speak to a freshmen processing clerk.

Check for needed course permits.
Be aware that the transfer student will need a permit to register for a course requiring a substitution which is a pre-requisite for another course. Contact the department in which the course is taught or the instructor for the course.
