Welcome to the official website for the MTSU Lambda Association. Founded in 1988, MT Lambda is the oldest LGBT+ higher ed. student organization in the state of Tennessee. Lambda's mission is to provide a safe and secure environment for everyone in the LGBT+ community at MTSU -including Straight Allies- as well as to educate students and community members on all things LGBT+.
Apart from our Community Standards, Lambda's mission statement and all of Lambda's events are founded upon four equally important principle values:
Political Activism: MT Lambda exists to advocate for the rights of all LGBT+ students at Middle Tennessee State University. While MT Lambda is not a partisan organization, Lambda may focus on issues that surround and drive the broader LGBT+ community.
Education of LGBT+ Issues: MT Lambda strives to educate all students at MTSU on issues surrounding the LGBT+ community through an open and honest dialog that fosters equality and acceptance for all.
Community Engagement: MT Lambda strives to be an engaged member of the MTSU campus community as well as the larger community of Middle Tennessee. Members of MT Lambda are expected to take part in annual MT Lambda activities and give back to their community through volunteering and service work.
Social Support: MT Lambda also serves as a social outlet for its members as well as for LGBT+ students at MTSU through various activities both on and off campus throughout each semester. Furthermore, neither the Officers nor the Membership of MT Lambda are permitted to provide counseling or other health services, however, the Officers or the Faculty Advisory are always prepared to put students at MTSU in touch with the proper resources to meet their individual needs.
Lambda hosts weekly meetings and membership is open to all currently enrolled MTSU students who act in good faith of Lambda's Constitution and Community Standards. Membership dues are announced at the beginning of each academic year, but are not required to attend weekly meetings or events.
Lambda has an office in the Student Union Building within the office for Student Organizations. STU Room 320G.
