Areas of Expertise
Praised for her thoughtful and compelling musical interpretations, cellist Christine Kim has performed for concert series throughout North America and Europe, including Da Camera of Houston, the New Hampshire Music Festival, the International Holland Music Sessions, and the CuraÃ§ao Summer Music Festival. Before joining the MTSU music faculty, Christine Kim taught at Luther College and Rice University. Her cello students have attended festivals, masterclasses, and graduate programs throughout the United States and Europe. In addition to her teaching at the university, Christine Kim also maintains a large private studio and is a teaching artist for ETHOS Music Ensembles. She has also worked with students at the Sewanee Summer Music Festival, the Tennessee Valley Music Festival, the Tennessee Cello Workshop, and the Tennessee Governor's School for the Arts.
Christine Kim holds degrees from the New England Conservatory and Rice University. Her principal teachers include Hans Jørgen Jensen, Paul Katz, and Norman Fischer.
