C. Allen Kennedy
Assistant Director of Athletic Bands
C. Allen Kennedy is serving as the Interim Assistant Director of Athletic Bands at Middle Tennessee University where he will assist in the teaching/conducting of the Band of Blue, Basketball Pep Band, Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Concert band, undergraduate beginning and advanced conducting and other duties as assigned. He is also specializing in wind band conducting under the guidance of Dr. Reed Thomas in which he will graduate in Spring 2015.
Prior to this appointment, Kennedy taught for six years in Kentucky at Hopkinsville Middle School and Logan County High School teaching band, choir, AP Music Theory, instrumental chamber ensembles and guitar classes. During his tenure, Logan County received Kentucky Music Education Association Distinguished Ratings in all areas of high school band performance, including symphonic band, marching band, and chamber ensembles. During his last year, the Logan County High School Symphonic Band earned a Distinguished rating at KMEA State Concert Festival, the first time in the school's twenty-nine-year history. Kennedy has adjudicated Solo & Ensemble Festivals and Marching Band Competitions in the states of Kentucky and Tennessee.
Kennedy received a Bachelor of Music Education, instrumental and vocal pedagogy, from Western Kentucky University in 2006, where studied conducting with Dr. John Carmichael and was principal trombone in all major ensembles including: wind ensemble, symphonic band, Bowling Green-Western Symphony Orchestra, trombone choir, and the Big Red Marching Band. Kennedy is from Russellville, Kentucky.
