2014-2015

The 2014 MTSU High School Honors Orchestra is now accepting applications. The MTSU HHO will run from Thursday, November 6 (6:00 PM)- Saturday, November 8. Applications and hotel information are available below.

Dr. Carol Nies, music director of the MTSU Symphony, conducted three performances of Le Nozze di Figaro and six performances of opera suites from Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Die Zauberflote, Carmen and La Bohème in June and July at the Rome Festival (Italy). She also served as the Director of the Nashville Summer Orchestral Institute in June.

Abi Coffer, flute, (BM Performance, MTSU), is serving as adjunct professor of flute at MTSU, visiting flute instructor at Sewanee (The University of the South), and is an Altus Artist for Altus Flutes, Ltd.

Roderickous Coger, viola performance major, received a position at Naxos Music.

Chance Dickens, cello performance major at MTSU, received an MTSU URECA grant for a presentation on Improvised Music.

Joeseph Falconer, cellist (Bachelor of Music Ed, MTSU, 2013), served as the Assistant to the Director of SummerTrios Music Festival. He has received a graduate assistantship to attend UT Knoxville in the Fall.

Mandy Funderbunk, bassist (Masters degree, Music Education, MTSU, 2011), is serving as the Orchestra Director at Bellvue Middle School.

Nicholas Hoy, violin performance major at MTSU, attended the Brevard Music Festival this summer.

David Hull, composer and bassoonist (BM, Composition, MTSU, 2013), received a position at Naxos Music.

Shannon Moore, flute, (BM, Flute Performance, 2014) has been accepted as a student of Trevor Wye (England).
