| When I came to MTSU from high school, it was one of the biggest culture shocks of my life. There were so many things that had to be taken care of. It got pretty confusing! Housing, registration, and especially financial aid seemed very overwhelming. When I asked for help, I felt like everyone kept passing me off to the next person and I just couldn't catch a break. If the Next Step Program had been here, it would have made my life so much easier. That's why I decided to be a Next Step mentor: I want to help incoming freshmen navigate around all of the roadblocks that can get thrown up during that first year and help them have a great beginning to their MTSU experience. |
