MTSU Welcome Week


Following is a listing of events that will take place during Week of Welcome. All students and faculty are invited to attend, free of charge.

Friday, August 24

  • We-Haul (all-day)
    Living on campus? Members from MTSU’s 250+ student organizations will be at your residence hall to help assist you during the move in process. You bring it, “We-Haul” it!
     
  • Dinner and Music at the KUC Courtyard, 6:30 pm
    Come one, come all! There will be a free dinner Friday night for students and their families in the KUC Courtyard. Once the sun goes down and it is dark enough outside, we will then start the outdoor movie.
     
  • Outdoor Movie - Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, 8pm, KUC Courtyard

Saturday, August 25

  • We-Haul (all day)
    Living on campus? Members from MTSU’s 250+ student organizations will be at your residence hall to help assist you during the move in process. You bring it, “We-Haul” it!

  • Information Booths, 10am-4pm
    There will be pop-up tents set up around campus serving as information booths. Have a question? Need directions to a particular office or building? Stop by an information booth to have your questions answered.

  • Dinner and Courtyard Carnival, 6pm, KUC Courtyard
    There will be a free dinner Saturday night in the KUC Courtyard for students and their families. There will also be lots of games and inflatables where you can test your skills both mentally and physically.

Sunday, August 26

  • University Convocation: Speaker: Tori McClure, 2pm, Murphy Center
    Convocation marks the beginning of a new academic year and falls into the category known as “rites of passage.” A rite of passage is a ritual marking the transition of an individual or an institution into a new stage of life. University Convocation marks the transformation of each student into a contributing member of the Middle Tennessee State University community. This year’s Convocation keynote speaker is Tori McClure, the author of the MTSU summer reading book A Pearl in the Storm.

  • President's Picnic following Convocation, Walnut Grove
    Immediately following Convocation, the President's Picnic will take place in Walnut Grove. This is a free event for all who attend. Be prepared for delicious, traditional "cookout" foods!

Tuesday, August 28

  • Meet Murfreesboro, 10am-2pm, KUC Courtyard
    Local businesses, restaurants, doctors' offices, and so on.. will be set up in the KUC Courtyard sharing information about the services they offer to students in the Murfreesboro area. Students can expect to load up on coupons, discounts, and free samples from many of Murfreesboro's finest businesses.

Wednesday, August 29

  • Meet Murfreesboro, 10am-2pm, KUC Courtyard
    Local businesses, restaurants, doctors' offices, and so on.. will be set up in the KUC Courtyard sharing information about the services they offer to students in the Murfreesboro area. Students can expect to load up on coupons, discounts, and free samples from many of Murfreesboro's finest businesses.
     
  • Comedian Anjelah Johnson, 8pm, Murphy Center
    Come kick back, relax, and LAUGH with a free comedic performance from Mad TV's Anjelah Johnson; famous for her Bon Qui Qui character. Free for all MTSU students and families.

Thursday, August 30

  • MTSU Department Fair, 11am-1pm, KUC Courtyard
    Departments from all over campus will come together in one centralized location to share information about what they do and resources they provide for students.
     
  • Football Season Opener - MTSU vs. McNeese State, 6:30 pm, Floyd Stadium

Tuesday, September 4

  • Volunteer Fair, 10am-2pm, KUC Courtyard
    Local non-profit organizations will come to campus in the KUC Courtyard and share with students how they can get plugged in to community service and volunteer opportunities with their organization. Come see how you can make a difference in the community!

Wednesday, September 5

  • Student Organization Fair, 10am-2pm, KUC Courtyard
    MTSU has over 250 student organizations to choose from. There is literally something for everyone! Come check out what MT has to offer and find out how you can become a part of something you enjoy.

Thursday, September 6

  • Greekfest, 6pm-11:30pm, KUC Courtyard

Friday, September 7

  • Bash the Wreck, Recreation Center
