Middle Tennessee State University School of Nursing, Cumberland University Jeanette Rudy School of Nursing, and Xi Alpha Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International are pleased to announce the First Annual Scholars Day, to be held in conjunction with Xi Alpha’s Spring Induction Ceremony on March 31, 2012. 

The purpose of Scholars Day is to promote evidence-based practice through dissemination of findings from scholarly inquiry, and to enhance knowledge of issues that impact nurses and nursing practice. The Scholars session will include a brief keynote address, followed by poster presentations from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm.   The Induction Ceremony will begin at 2:30 pm and conclude at 4:00 pm.

You are invited to submit an abstract of a completed research project, or best practice/evidence-based project in any area of nursing or health care for consideration as a poster presentation.  Pilot projects, ongoing research, patient education innovations, quality improvement projects, as well as current research findings on health-related topics of interest to nurses may be presented also.  We welcome diversity in submissions. All abstracts must be submitted by February 17, 2012 for blind review by the Xi Alpha Chapter Research Committee.  Notification of acceptance will be sent to authors by March 1, 2012.       

Guidelines for Abstract Submission

1. A cover sheet containing the title of the poster, author’s name(s), title(s), mailing address, phone number, and email address.  The cover should be sent with the abstract.
2. The abstract should contain:
• the title of the poster             
• purpose
• methods and design (if any)
• major findings, or major points to be discussed
• conclusions and recommendations
3. Please limit the abstract to 400 words, double-spaced.
4. Submit the cover letter and abstract to MtsuNursingAbstracts@gmail.com by 11:00 pm by February 10, 2012 ATTN:  Shelley C. Moore, Research Committee Chair
