Recycling - Handbook

The University encourages all faculty, staff, students, and alumni to be good citizens through their support of the MTSU Recycling Program. Recycling reduces waste and the costs associated with waste disposal; conserves resources for the next generation; reduces energy consumption; and raises money for academic scholarships at MTSU.

To date, over 12.4 million pounds of newspaper, 1.6 million pounds of office paper, 1.2 million pounds of mixed paper, and 258,100 pounds of aluminum cans have been recycled. The recycling program proceeds have been used to establish 32 academic scholarships and to finish endowing a number of other scholarships representing a wide variety of academic departments.

The recycling center is located in the parking lot just to the east of the Greenland Drive entrance to the campus. Containers for newspaper, magazines, aluminum cans, and mixed paper are located there.
