Hello! I'm Anit Patel from Harriman, Tennessee and I'm One of Tennessee's Best!

I first took notice of MTSU because it offered my intended major; I enrolled in MTSU because of the campus. In order for someone to enjoy their time at school they have to like the campus; otherwise, they will not be happy where they are. I took a campus tour during my senior year of high school. I immediately fell in love with the campus and everything it has to offer. I loved how everything is remotely close and how the atmosphere is very different than other universities.

My major is business management with a minor in business administration. I chose to get a degree in business because that is what I want to do when I get older. I come from a family that owns many businesses. I plan to use the degree to help out with the family businesses once I graduate.

MTSU offers many activities for students to get involved in. I am currently involved in Student Government Association (SGA) where I am a freshman senator. The Student Government Association is the voice of our student body of more than 25,000 students attending MTSU. The student body has representation in almost all facets of campus life from University Standing Committees to Homecoming Events. SGA provides an avenue to ensure the opinions of students are heard. In the near future I plan to be even more active on campus. Getting involved is a great way to enhance your college experience. There are nearly 300 organizations registered on campus, so students are bound to find something to match their interests!

I currently live on campus in Corlew Hall, a freshman high-rise dorm. I really enjoy living in Corlew because this is where I have made the most friends. Coming into college I only knew a few people, but today I know most of the Corlew residents. By living in a freshman only dorm I have made some great memories with new friends. The experience has made my first two semesters at MTSU very enjoyable.

The transition from high school to college is very hard. I was looking forward to, and am still looking forward to, getting up every day and making new friends, as well as having fun. I like being active so I am always doing something. Some of my best memories while being on campus have been going to the campus recreation center and playing a game of indoor soccer, along with many other sports. I am also really excited that I am one of the fourteen individuals that have been given the wonderful opportunity of representing the freshman class through SGA. I ran against thirty-three other individuals and I got a seat on the freshman senate. That to me is a big accomplishment!

My story would not be complete without mentioning those that have influenced my time on campus. I will start with the Corlew floor custodian. I see this gentleman every day and he always has a smile on his face and a positive attitude. Additionally, all of my professors this year have made a positive impact. Transitioning from high school to college is a big move. The MTSU faculty and staff members have helped ease the transition, as well as challenge me to excel to my full potential.

MTSU has a great number of things to offer. It has a wide variety of classes as well as majors and minors one can use throughout life. I learned a lot by just coming to tour the campus and I am sure you will, too. I encourage you to come see MTSU for yourself. Come get a better feel of who we are and what we have to offer you. Let MTSU show you how you too can be one of Tennessee's best. I know you'll be glad you did!
