Donald Abels
Savannah, TN

My name is Donald Abels and I'm one! I'm one of Tennessee's best and I want you to be one, too.

The decision to come to Middle Tennessee State University was an easy one. I wanted to stay in state and move to a place outside of my comfort zone. I took a few campus tours at other schools and when I came to MTSU for a visit, my first impression was how "put together"; the campus was compared to other universities. I liked what I saw and decided to enroll. I have never regretted my decision. MTSU is a great fit for me and I loved the campus and all opportunities offered here.

My education, like for most of my fellow students, comes first. I am an Organizational Communication (ORCO) major. I love ORCO because it's different than other majors and you can do a great deal with it. There is a lot of hands-on learning and EXL classes available - the type of classes I enjoy most. When I graduate, I am going to focus on working for a non-profit organization, but I do plan to get my master's degree in Higher Education Administration. The academics at MTSU are the best and for the price, it's unbeatable. Student involvement and athletics are other reasons I am so passionate about the university.

Outside of the classroom, I am very involved in several groups and organizations. Some of my campus involvement include: Sigma Pi Fraternity President and Recruitment Chairman, executive board member of Up 'til Dawn, Homecoming Director for The Student Government Association, SGA Senate, a member of Bettering Our Leaders for Tomorrow (B.O.L.T), the Grade Appeals Committee, the Homecoming Committee, Vice President of MTSU United Way, Invisible Children Schools for Schools, PEER Educator, Student Orientation Assistant (SOA), and I have participated in Alternative Spring Breaks 2009, 2010, and 2011. Being involved has really rounded out my college experience. I have met many people I might not have met otherwise and I have learned countless things I would not have learned in the classroom.

I could literally go on for hours talking about all the great things MTSU has to offer, but you should come see for yourself why Tennessee's best are choosing MTSU. Come for a visit, you'll stay for a lifetime.

Come be one - one of Tennessee's best - at Middle Tennessee State University. You'll be glad you did. I know I am.
