Hi, I'm Keandrea Taylor and I'm One of Tennessee's Best!

I was born in Germany into a military family, so I have traveled to many places. While stationed at Ft. Campbell, Kentucky, I graduated from Northwest High School in Clarksville, TN.

I chose MTSU because it was not too far away from home, they have the sports medicine program, and they also have majorettes for the band. I also had a lot of friends who were coming here, and I liked all the good things I heard about MTSU. I really decided I wanted to go here when I came for my campus visit!

I am currently a senior at MTSU working toward a degree in Exercise Science, focusing on Sports Medicine and Pre-Physical Therapy. This degree prepares students for positions in corporate, hospital, and public wellness and fitness centers, as well as graduate degrees in exercise science, physical therapy, and cardiac rehabilitation. My future goals are to continue my studies in Physical Therapy and work for a professional basketball team.

My experiences on campus have been memorable. I auditioned and was selected to be a part of MTSU's Band of Blue as a majorette. I have traveled to all of the football games with the Band of Blue! I love the atmosphere of the games, being in the stadium and the rush you feel as you are performing on the field.

I stayed in Scarlett Commons during my first few semesters. Not only did I make lasting friendships, but living on campus is also very convenient. I didn't have to worry about parking. I simply woke up and walked to all of my classes. I've since moved off campus. There are many apartments around MTSU that offer free shuttle rides to the campus, another plus when it comes to convenience!

I've also really enjoyed my classes here at MTSU. The professors really do care about you and want to see you succeed. Here you are not just another fish in the sea. The professors are willing to give you one-on-one attention and provide you with the tools you need to become the person you want to be. They will give you a lot of work but they are very helpful. That is what college is all about- your professors make you work hard in order to prepare you for your future. It may seem like a lot at the time, but you will thank them later!

At MTSU there are a lot of opportunities both inside and outside of the classroom that will help you grow as an individual and prepare you for your future goals. I have had the opportunity to serve as a student trainer for a variety of MTSU sports including: football, basketball, and volleyball. I even had the opportunity to be a trainer for one of the local high schools. I have been fortunate enough to obtain an internship with Select Physical Therapy, which provides valuable experience as I prepare for my future career. Aside from being a majorette, I have been involved in several other activities. I have represented MTSU as a member of the Blue Elite and the I'm One program. I also enjoy mentoring younger students through the Girls Scouts and the MTSU Partnership Program with AVID (Metro Nashville Schools' Advancement via Individual Determination).

I love that MTSU is a large university (Spring 2011 record enrollment of 24,660). Being here you truly get a sense that you are in the 'real world'. Fortunately, MTSU still manages to create a small-town feel. It doesn't take very long to learn your way around, and once you do it really doesn't seem like that big of a place! There are tons of new people to meet on campus. I love meeting new people and I especially love working with incoming students so that I can be of assistance to them and help answer their questions. Many of their questions are ones I had as an incoming freshman, so I enjoy being in a position to help guide them through the transition from high school to college.

MTSU offers the whole package- the price is right, the professors and courses are great, there is a wide range of majors to choose from, we are good in sports, and the campus is beautiful! Students are exposed to many new opportunities and provided with wonderful experiences here. When it comes to preparing for your future, MTSU is a great choice! I know I am receiving the foundation I need to reach the goals I have set for myself. And it all started with a campus visit. I encourage you to come visit our campus and find out what MTSU can do for you. Consider becoming one of Tennessee's Best!
