Organizational Communication is an interdisciplinary major, administered by the department
of Speech & Theatre. The major requires 33 hours (11 courses) and an 18 hour Cognate.
A minor is not required, but many students choose to earn one.
According to the Graduating Senior Survey from Fall 2010 and Spring 2011, 97% of ORCO
majors said that if they could choose their major again, they would choose the same
major. 41% said they planned to earn a master's degree. ORCO graduates are the best!
Growth of the Organizational Communication major from its beginning in Fall 1999
The Org Com major continues to attract students from diverse races and ethnic groups.
In Fall 2011, Org Com majors included 5 Asians, 19 African Americans, 6 Hispanics,
and 3 of two or more races. There were 44 males and 128 females. In Spring 2012,
Org Com majors included 4 Asians, 25 African Americans, 6 Hispanics, and 5 of two
or more races. There were 57 males and 160 females.
