Welcome Letter

Dear Parents and Family Members,

Welcome to the True Blue family! It is my pleasure to welcome you and share some of the great resources that we provide parents and families throughout their students’ time here at MTSU.

The Parent and Family Handbook that has been created especially for you as a resource to help you better understand MTSU. Inside you will find an overview of the university and contact information for the different offices and services provided on campus. Some other resources provided here for your convenience are answers to Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), as well as some tips on how to assist your student with the transition from high school to college. If however, these resources do not fully meet your needs, please contact our office and we will be happy to help you.

In addition to the handbook, the Office of New Student and Family Programs provides other services for the parents and families of MTSU students. We provide parents with the opportunity to join the MTSU Parent and Family Association. Your annual or lifetime membership in the association includes:

  • 10 eNewsletters per academic year that include information about on-campus events, deadlines, and important dates.
  • Members will receive a Welcome Kit which includes: reusable water bottles, a wall calendar, ink pens, lip balm, koozies, a laundry bag, license plate frames, mom/dad/grandparent/Proud PFA member buttons, and a Very Important Parent (VIP) discount card. The VIP card is valid for the length of the school year, and gives members access to discounts for hotels, restaurants, and other business in the Murfreesboro area.
  • Lastly, you will gain access to the PFA Facebook group that serves as a wonderful resource and way to connect with other parent and family members of MTSU students.

You will also find information on our website about Family Weekend, which is an exciting weekend and a great excuse to come visit your student in the fall. There are several events including a fun event at the recreation center, tailgating activities, and a home football game. Keep an eye out on our website for more information about Family Weekend which will be available in late July.

Again, I would like to welcome you to the MTSU family, I hope that you find the Parent and Family Handbook and the other services provided by our office useful as you assist your student in their transition to Middle Tennessee State University. We look forward to seeing you at our parent and family events! There are also many other events held on campus that might be of interest to you and we would like to invite you to attend as many of these events as you would like. If I can be of any assistance at any time, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Good luck and best wishes as you begin this exciting journey with your student!

Sincerely,

Office of New Student and Family Programs
