This is a solemn ceremony and the officers and faculty presenters will be wearing academic regalia. We do realize that you are first and foremost students and that you will be coming from class. Please wear what you will feel most comfortable wearing.
What if I cannot attend the ceremony?
You are strongly encouraged to attend the initiation ceremony, but if you are unable to attend, you can still become a member. Please pick up your certificate and emblem from Kathy Davis in HONR 205 between 8:00 and 4:30. If you know in advance of the ceremony that you will be unable to attend, please contact the chapter assistant, Kathy Davis at 898-2152.
Can I bring more than one guest to the ceremony?
Yes, please invite your family members as well as faculty members. Encourage your guests to stay after the ceremony for light refreshments.
My class doesn't get out until 5:00; can I still attend the ceremony?
Yes. If you inform the chapter assistant, Kathy Davis, at 898-2152 ahead of time she will see that the officers are informed of your late arrival.
Do you have Phi Kappa Phi honor cords, stoles and medallions that can be worn at graduation?
Yes. Both honor cords and medallions can be purchased for an additional $10 each and stoles for $25 each the day of the initiation ceremony. They can be purchased after the initiation ceremony in HONR 205 from Kathy Davis, the chapter assistant, between 8:00 and 4:30 daily. We encourage you to wear them on the day of your graduation.
If I am late in returning the Permanent Record of Election form, can I still send it in with my chapter dues?
Yes. Please make every attempt to send your form and dues in as quickly as possible; but if for some reason you are late, please go ahead and mail it in. In order for a certificate to be printed and for your name to be put in the program, we will need your information as soon as you can possibly get it to us.
What is the length of the initiation ceremony and if I need to attend class, can I leave early?
The actual ceremony lasts about 1 hour. We will work around your class schedule, though. If you inform the chapter assistant, Kathy Davis, at 898-2152 of your schedule, she will let the officers know to present your certificate first.
