TEIS

TEIS is the Tennessee Early Intervention System and is the Point of Entry (POE) for children birth to age three with delays or diagnosed disabilities in Tennessee. For a child and family to be eligible for TEIS services the child must have a diagnosed disability and / or a developmental delay of 40% in developmental area or two areas with delays of 25%.

The Developmental areas or domains are:
  1. Cognitive
  2. Language / Communication
  3. Social / Emotional
  4. Adaptive
  5. Fine Motor
  6. Gross Motor

TEIS is responsible for the oversight of the programing that the family needs / requests as well as for collecting the individual data on each child and family. Guidelines are established for program functioning and meetings are held during which service options are explained.
