Blue Room

Teacher: Bobbie Young
Aide: Jennifer Plaskett

Welcome to the Blue Room. Our Class is where the Baird Lane "middle-age" toddlers are placed. These children usually start their Blue Room experiences at about 24 months of age and stay until they are almost 30 months old.

In the Blue Room there is a play loft that houses various centers depending on the thematic unit for the month. There are lots of opportunities for our children to garner new language skills, to learn to play with each other in learning centers, as well as playground opportunities.

We encourage our children to grow cognitively though many activities. The activities create a better understanding of colors, days of the week, letters and sounds, shapes, action words, potty training, and much much more.

Our Blue Room Friends are given more choices  and receive the consequences of those choices. Most of the Blue Room Friends ask and answer questions , enjoy interacting with peers and adults, and start to engage in more advanced problem-solving as well as following multi-step directions. We become pretty sure that autonomy is the "real deal" in the Blue Room.
