Q: Will we be expected to purchase the new equipment necessary to make this all work?

A: ITD is purchasing the system equipment necessary to make the Lync system work. A wired headset will be provided with each installation at no charge to the user. If the user wishes to buy a different headset or a handset, then there are several recommended models on the Dell Punch-out site in SyQuest. There are other sources for Lync compatible end points also. It will take a couple of years to complete the conversion to Lync so upgrading the Avaya phones should be avoided if possible, but is necessary sometimes. It could be quite a while before a particular office makes the conversion to Lync. There is no trade-in credit for Avaya phones when Lync is installed.
