Middle Tennessee State University invites applications and nominations for the position of Dean of the Jennings A. Jones College of Business. MTSU, with more than 25,000 students, is located 30 miles southeast of Nashville, Tennessee, a global health care industry center and a center for world renowned music, entertainment, publishing, advanced manufacturing and supply chain industries. The College, with 3100 undergraduate and over 600 graduate students, is one of the largest AACSB accredited business schools.
The College consists of the Departments of Accounting, Business Communication and Entrepreneurship, Computer Information Systems, Economics and Finance, and Management and Marketing and offers degrees in 10 undergraduate majors as well as the M.B.A., M.B.E., M.A., M.S. and a Ph.D. in Economics. The College, with its 127 faculty and 30 staff members, places a strong emphasis on teaching and applied research with the expectation that faculty will present and publish their findings. Units within the college also include: the Business and Economic Research Center; the Center for Economic Education; the Tennessee Small Business Development Lead Center; Leadership Middle Tennessee; two Chairs of Excellence, in Free Enterprise and Urban and Regional Planning; and three Endowed Chairs, in Insurance, Finance and Entrepreneurship. The College is committed to fostering relationships with industry and area businesses through special programs, projects, consulting and other public service activities. The College is housed in a state-of-the-art building with 40 electronic master classrooms, computer laboratories, compressed video facilities and 134 faculty offices.
