University Standing Committees

UNIVERSITY INSTITUTIONAL EFFECTIVENESS COMMITTEE
(Special Purpose)
The University Institutional Effectiveness Committee should be composed of
one department chair representing each academic college, one Vice President and the Faculty Senate President for one-year terms; a Library representative for a two-year term; and the Provost (or designee), Executive Director of Institutional Effectiveness, Planning and Research, Dean of Continuing Education and Distance Learning (or designee), Director of General Education, Associate Dean of Graduate Studies and Director of Institutional Effectiveness shall serve as permanent members.

Charge
The University Institutional Effectiveness Committee is a special purpose committee reporting to the Executive Vice President and Provost that provides oversight of assessment processes and program improvement initiatives across the campus. The purpose of this oversight is two-fold: (1) review and monitor all institutional effectiveness (IE) plans for outcomes that lead to appropriate changes implemented by university departments that will improve student learning and student services, and (2) assure that MTSU meets SACS expectations regarding institutional effectiveness. The committee will assure that academic IE plans provide evidence that student learning has occurred. Reports from this committee will be forwarded to the University Planning Committee.
