Dissertation Committee

Ideally, a student will constitute his or her pre-dissertation advisory committee as early as possible.  The dissertation committee is not officially constituted until the student has passed preliminary exams, and generally does not change substantially from the pre-dissertation advisory committee.  The committee must include at least two public history faculty members, one history faculty member, and one faculty member representative of the interdisciplinary studies field. Committee members must hold graduate faculty status; the dissertation director must be doctoral faculty.
