Center for the Advancement of Research and Scholarship (CARS)

To expand faculty development opportunities and provide information and guidance during the proposal-writing process, the Center for the Advancement of Research and Scholarship has been created. The purpose of the Center is to enable faculty to fulfill their potential in research, scholarship, creative projects, and public service via:

  • Sponsoring/presentation of workshops for faculty (by faculty, staff, or funding agency representatives) on topics relevant to successful scholarship and the search for external funding
  • Proactive personal contact with individual faculty and collaborative groups about appropriate funding opportunities
  • Matching of committed proposal writers with proposal-writing mentors to guide them through the process
  • Rewards and recognition for faculty engaged in grant-writing / scholarly activity

Support during the proposal-writing process will be provided through the new Proposal Development Program as part of the Faculty Research and Creative Projects Committee.

The Proposal Development Program has been discontinued. Guidelines for application to similar programs may be found at:
