Intellectual Property Development and Commercialization
Development and commercialization of intellectual property at Middle Tennessee State
University is one of the responsibilities of the Office of Research. The staff of
the MTSU Office of Research (OoR), the Intellectual Property Advisory Committee (IPAC),
and the Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) work together to accomplish the mission of
the Intellectual Property Development and Commercialization Office (IPD&C).
Mission
To educate the university community about intellectual property, encourage faculty,
students, and staff to develop and refine commercializable ideas, facilitate protection
of IP developed by university employees alone or jointly with collaborators, and transfer
the benefits of the IP to the public through commercialization.
Vision
To nuture a culture of discovery and innovation in which creation of intellectual
property and its subsequent commercialization are a recognized and valued aspect of
the research enterprise.

To implement the goals of the University's Academic Master Plan related to the IP&C
