MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The Blue Raider men’s tennis team was once again recognized by the Intercollegiate
Tennis Association for its academic achievements. Middle Tennessee was named a 2012
ITA All-Academic Team and Matthew Langley earned ITA Scholar-Athlete honors.
The Blue Raiders earned all-academic team accolades last year as well, while Langley also was named a scholar-athlete for the second year in a row. The team award is given to any program with a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or above, with all eligible team members who played in at least one match factoring into the team average. ITA Scholar-Athletes are required to be a varsity letter winner, have a GPA of at least 3.5 and have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters.
Last month, Langley became the first Blue Raider in program history to earn multiple Capital One Academic All-America honors, receiving the distinction for the second straight year. He maintained a 4.0 GPA as an exercise science major and was named one of MT’s International Student-Athletes of the Year earlier this spring.
The team academic honors cap off another successful season for the Blue Raiders, as they won the Sun Belt tournament for the second consecutive year and earned their 11th NCAA Championship berth. MT finished with a 19-8 record, marking the most wins since 1997.
